Webster University's Conservatory of Theatre Arts Presents UNCOMMON WOMEN AND OTHERS, 2/20-3/3

Webster University¹s Conservatory of Theatre Arts presents ³Uncommon Women and Others² by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning playwright Wendy Wasserstein. The production runs Feb. 20-24 and Feb. 27-March 3, in Stage III, Webster Hall, 470 E. Lockwood Ave. Curtain times are 7:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. only on Sundays. A special post-show conversation will immediately follow the performance on Sunday, Feb. 24. Admission is $12 for the general public and $6 for senior adults and students. The play begins in the late 1970s with a reunion, six years after graduation, of five close friends and classmates at Mount Holyoke College. They compare notes on their activities since leaving school and then, in a series of flashbacks, we see them in their college days and learn of the events, some funny, some touching, some bitingly cynical, that helped to shape them. Each of the group is a distinct individual, and it is their varying reactions to the serious, sheltered and often anachronistic university environment that gives the play its special meaning for today¹s young women as they go forth into the world that awaits them after graduation.

Guest Director Melissa Rain Anderson is directing Uncommon Women and Others. Anderson holds a BFA in Theatre from USIU in San Diego. The New York-based director, actor and acting coach directs in New York City and regionally. Most recently, she directed the Houston premier of Next to Normal at Stages Repertory Theatre. Next to Normal won Best Musical from the Houston Press Awards 2012. Anderson¹s acting credits include Network TV, National Tours, Off-Broadway, Regional, and Voice Over Work, as well as several cast recordings. She teaches Master Classes regularly with emphasis on Musical Theatre, Audition Technique and Acting through Song. Anderson coaches acting privately in Midtown Manhattan.
