Webster University’s Conservatory of Theatre Arts Presents Shakespeare's A MIDSUMMER'S NIGHT DREAM, 11/14-18

By:

Webster University’s Conservatory of Theatre Arts presents “A Midsummer Night's Dream," by William Shakespeare. The production will run from Nov. 14-18 in the Browning Mainstage Theatre of Webster University's Loretto-Hilton Center, 130 Edgar Road. Curtain time is 7:30 p.m., except Sunday, which will have a 2 p.m. matinee only. Admission is $12 for the general public and $6 for senior adults and students. For ticket reservations, please call the Fine Arts Hotline at 968-7128.

The Conservatory's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" presents a fantastical vision of Paris, circa 1910, where the innocence of youth clashes with the harsher truths of reality. Two groups of lovers retreat from society to the forest. There, they are beset by magic as Puck, a knavish fairy, leads the young lovers on a romp in the woods that threatens to tear true love and friendship apart. Meanwhile, Oberon, King of the Fairies, plays a trick of his own on Titania, Queen of the Fairies, causing her to fall in love with Bottom–a hard-working man of Athens who, along with Snug, Snout, Peter Quince and Flute, have entered the forest to rehearse a play intended for a royal wedding day.

Visiting director John McCluggage directs "A Midsummer Night's Dream."
