WICKED Hot Air Balloon Set for Great Forest Park Balloon Race
The Fabulous Fox Theatre is pleased to announce WICKED, Broadway's biggest blockbuster, will be flying its own WICKED Hot Air Balloon to St. Louis for the "Great Forest Park Balloon Glow & Race." Their very own Defying Gravity hot air balloon will appear at the festival September 18 - 19, 2015. The WICKED hot air balloon is making this special appearance in honor of the smash hit musical's return to the Fabulous Fox Theatre December 9 - January 3.
WICKED is sure to be one of this year's most "Popular" balloons at the Great Forest Balloon Race. The race, celebrating its 43rd anniversary this year, is unique in that it originates from the middle of a major city, St. Louis. Attendance is free to all. No entrance or parking charges. More than 150,000 spectators will attend the spectacular Balloon Glow on Friday night before the Race (60 balloons lighted by their burners!) and The Great Forest Park Balloon Race on Saturday. Highlights include entertainment by local artists, food booths, exhibits, a photo contest sponsored by Wehrenberg Theaters & St. Louis Post-Dispatch, in addition to Miller Lite Skydivers, and the Purina Children's Entertainment Area. Stan Hess, Veteran Balloonist and Tour Director of the United States Hot Air Balloon Team, is the veteran pilot of the WICKED Hot Air Balloon. He has been piloting the balloon since 2013 when the WICKED balloon was created in celebration of WICKED's 10th Anniversary on Broadway.
