The Rep to Open 48th Season with VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE

By:

The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis presents the hysterical play Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike by Christopher Durang and directed by Michael Evan Haney. This entertaining play full of hilariously absurd situations will be performed on the Browning Mainstage of the Loretto-Hilton Center for the Performing Arts, 130 Edgar Road (on the campus of Webster University), Webster Groves, March 18-April 12, 2015.

Curtain times are Tuesday at 7 pm; Wednesday-Friday at 8 pm; selected Wednesday matinees at 1:30 pm; Saturday matinees at 5 pm; selected Saturday nights at 9 pm; Sunday matinees at 2 pm; and selected Sunday evenings at 7 pm.

Ticket prices start at just $17.50 (previews) and $21 (regular performances). To purchase, visit The Rep Box Office, located inside the Loretto-Hilton Center, charge by phone by calling (314) 968-4925 or visit The Rep's Online Box Office at http://www.repstl.org.

Major sponsorship for this production is provided by The Rep's Leading Ladies and Edward Jones.

Stuck in their family home in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Vanya and his adopted sister Sonia live a quiet existence until their lives are thrown into comic upheaval with the arrival of their B-list celebrity sister, Masha, and her 20-something boy toy, Spike. Add to that a soothsaying housekeeper, a star struck young neighbor and a rather odd costume party, and the stage is set for mayhem and hilarity in this present-day homage to Chekhov. Winner of the 2013 Tony Award for Best Play.

The cast of Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike at The Rep is John Feltch as Vanya, Suzanne Grodner (Emma) as Sonia, Elizabeth Hess as Masha, Shinnerrie Jackson as Cassandra, Jefferson McDonald as Spike and Gracyn Mix (A Midsummer Night's Dream) as Nina.

The Rep's production of Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike is directed by Michael Evan Haney.

The creative staff also includes Paul Shortt, set designer; Anne Kennedy, costume designer; James Sale, lighting designer; Rusty Wandall, sound designer; Rich Cole, casting director; Champe Leary, stage manager; and Tony Dearing, assistant stage manager.

The Rep is partnering with the St. Louis Art Museum to enhance the patron experience of Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. Participants can take a free one-hour tour of SLAM's collection featuring the Stuff of Our Life: Decorative Arts. No reservations are required and more information can be found at http://www.slam.org.
