The Muny Names Mike Isaacson As Executive Producer

By:

The Municipal Theatre Association of St. Louis (The Muny) announced today that Mike Isaacson will become Executive Producer for The Muny beginning with the 2012 season.

As previously announced, current Executive Producer, Paul Blake, will retire after the 2011 Season, his 22nd season at The Muny.

Since 1996, Isaacson has produced more than 15 Broadway musicals, plays, revivals, national tours and London productions. Notable productions include Red (2010 Tony Award Best Play); The Seagull (2008); Legally Blonde, The Musical (2007); Caroline, or Change (2004), Thoroughly Modern Millie (2002 Tony Award, Best Musical); Death of a Salesman (1999 Tony Award, Best Revival of a Play) and You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown (1998). This year he produced the national tour of 9 to 5 - The Musical and is working on Bring It On - The Musical for Universal Studios and Beacon Pictures. He has also been responsible for bringing more than 100 musicals and plays to The Fabulous Fox Theatre. During this time the Fox doubled its number of Broadway playing weeks and grew its subscription base by nearly 75 percent.

"The relationship between St. Louis and this grand and extraordinary theatre is unlike anything else in the U.S., or even the world," says Isaacson. "For nearly five generations, St. Louisans have come to Forest Park in the summer to celebrate the glory and richness of Musical Theatre. It's astonishing how many Broadway luminaries have played The Muny, and how the Muny tradition is so beloved throughout the Broadway community. There is simply nothing else like it in the world. It is my true honor to be given the opportunity to work with Denny Reagan, The Muny's board, staff, artists, musicians and production teams to create great musicals for St. Louis."

"I think in Mike we've got the best of both worlds: a man who knows and understands St. Louis audiences, and who also brings strong Broadway connections, respect and resources to St. Louis," said Denny Reagan, president and CEO of The Muny. "Mike carries a Broadway sense of style to The Muny, but understands and respects The Muny's tradition. We are excited by what his experience and vision will bring."

Isaacson will leave The Fabulous Fox Theatre and join The Muny in April of 2011. He will continue to partner with Kristin Caskey for ongoing producing projects.
