Opera Theatre of Saint Louis (OTSL) and The Sheldon are pleased to welcome vocalist Sylvia McNair, performing popular classics from the American songbook and beyond, in a special, cabaret-style evening in The Sheldon Ballroom, Tuesday, June 14 at 7:30 p.m.

A two-time Grammy Award-winning singer, Sylvia McNair's performing repertoire has embraced everything from classical and cabaret to opera and Broadway musicals. McNair made her name in the opera world, beginning at Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, and continuing to the top opera houses in the world. She has worked with Seiji Ozawa, Kurt Masur, Leonard Slatkin, André Previn, Neville Marriner and the late Robert Shaw, whom she credits with giving her the early and important opportunities that launched her career.

McNair has expanded her repertoire to include music from the Great American Songbook, performing at cabaret rooms and at concerts across the U.S., including the Algonquin Hotel's famed Oak Room, where she earned rave reviews. McNair will return to Opera Theatre this summer in the cameo role of the Duchess of Crackentorp in Donizetti's The Daughter of the Regiment, and currently serves on the vocal music faculty of the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University.

OTSL's 2011 season runs through June 26, featuring new productions of Mozart's Don Giovanni, Donizetti's The Daughter of the Regiment, Debussy's Pelléas and Mélisande, and John Adams's The Death of Klinghoffer. For tickets or more information, visit www.ExperienceOpera.org.
