Stages St. Louis' 25th Anniversary Season Breaks Records

By: Oct. 19, 2011

STAGES ST. LOUIS today announced that the 25th Anniversary Season broke all box office records. The season saw a significant increase in box office revenue of 4% over 2010 sales, out-grossing any season in STAGES' 25-year history. Ticket sales brought in over $1.7 million and a season average of 98.3% capacity.

The 2011 season opener and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical A Chorus Line is now the all-time leader, exceeding last season's previous top seller Promises, Promises. A Chorus Line played to sold-out houses and an overall average of 99.8% capacity in the 377-seat Robert G. Reim theatre in Kirkwood, MO. The show, which starred Broadway Actress Jessica Lee Goldyn (Cassie) and Broadway Actor David Elder (Zach), surpassed all previous box office records.

This year's Theatre for Young Audiences production of Disney's 101 Dalmatians broke records of its own, and is now the leader in ticket sales for this unique family-friendly event. Disney's 101 Dalmatians played to sold-out houses for each performance with an average capacity of 100.9%.

The STAGES premieres of The Secret Garden and Victor/Victoria received audience and critical acclaim, maintaining the momentum of the season and are among the top shows in their respective slots in the season.

"What a way to celebrate our 25th Anniversary Season," exclaimed Executive Producer Jack Lane "A Chorus Line began the season with a definite kick,The Secret Garden was described as one of our most beautiful productions to date, while Victor/Victoria one of our largest undertakings and a wonderful finale to the season. Disney's 101 Dalmatians was an astounding success and represents real growth in the Theatre for Young Audience program." "The success of single ticket sales along with an increase of over 125 subscribers this season has us very optimistic about the future growth of STAGES."

The 2011 Silver Anniversary Season has been made possible with the support of the Regional Arts Commission, and has been funded in part by the Arts & Education Council. Additional financial assistance has been provided by the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency.
