New Line Theatre, "the bad boy of musical theatre," has secured the rights to the regional premiere of BONNIE & CLYDE to open its 24th season next fall. The show opened on Broadway in fall 2011, but was too dark and unforgiving for Broadway audiences - which means of course it's perfect for New Line. Like the company did with High Fidelity and Cry-Baby, the New Liners hope to bring this smart, intense, sexy show back to life and spur new productions in regional theatre across America.

With a score full of jazz, blues, gospel, and rockabilly by composer Frank Wildhorn (Jekyll & Hyde, The Scarlet Pimpernel) and lyricist Don Black (Tell Me on a Sunday, Sunset Boulevard), and a script by Ivan Menchell, this is a powerful, emotional story that never pulls its punches or backs away from the brutality at the heart of Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow's passionate, psychotic relationship.

The show was nominated for 3 Outer Critics Circle Awards and 5 Drama Desk Awards, including Best New Musical, Best Lyrics, and Best Music, as well as two Tony nominations, including Best Original Score.

Auditions for BONNIE & CLYDE will be held in June 2013.

New Line Theatre is a professional company dedicated to involving the people of the St. Louis region in the exploration and creation of daring, provocative, socially and politically relevant works of musical theatre. New Line was created back in 1991 at the vanguard of a new wave of nonprofit musical theatre just starting to take hold across the country. New Line has given birth to several world premiere musicals over the years and has brought back to life several shows that were not well served by their original New York productions. Altogether, New Line has produced 68 musicals since 1991, and the company was recently given its own entries in the Cambridge Guide to American Theatre and in Theatre World. New Line receives funding from the Regional Arts Commission, the Fox Performing Arts Charitable Foundation, and the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency. New Line's 23rd season continues with the Pulitzer Prize winning rock opera RENT, running March 6-29, 2014; and the regional premiere, straight from Broadway, of the new rock musical HANDS ON A HARDBODY, running May 29-June 21, 2014.
