Gateway Center for Performing Arts' Youth Theatre Company to Present ANNIE WARBUCKS
Gateway Center for Performing Arts' Youth Theatre Company begins its 2015/2016 Mainstage Season with the sequel to one of the most beloved musicals of all time. ANNIE WARBUCKS continues right where ANNIE left off as Daddy Warbucks learns he must find a wife in order to adopt Annie, giving her a "proper" home.
In the spirit of Annie's canine sidekick, GCPA has partnered with Gateway Pet Guardians, a nonprofit St. Louis animal shelter bringing hope to stray pets in East St. Louis. This partnership began with a special photo shoot featuring adoptable pets with some of the cast. Additionally, on January 16th from 4 pm - 7 pm (between the matinee and evening performances), GPG will host a special adoption event in the lobby of the theatre. But the most exciting news is that of Sandy, who will be played by the lovable Clarice, a GPG adoptable dog looking for her forever home.
Clarice was found in November of 2015, emaciated and malnourished in a shed. With GPG's help, she's now healthy, about 7 months old and ready for adoption! You will fall in love with her just as Annie fell in love with Sandy.
You won't want to miss this heartwarming show. With books, music and lyrics by the same team that created the original, songs like "Annie Ain't Just Annie Anymore", "The Other Woman" and "I Always Knew" are sure to charm and delight. Follow Annie through this adventure with old friends, new villains and, of course - Sandy!
