Emmy Award-winning writer and comedienne, Monica Piper will be bringing her one woman stand up show. "Farmisht, Farklempt & Farblungit" to the JCC on September 9 as the 2017 Signature Event of the New Jewish Theatre.

A "Whine & Schmooze" pre-event will begin at 8 PM with Piper taking the stage in the Helen & Carl Mirowitz Performing Arts Center of the Staenberg Family Complex at 8:15.

Piper, an artist-in-residence with the Jewish Women's Theatre of Los Angeles performed her critically acclaimed one-woman play, "Not That Jewish" to sell-out crowds for 16 months in LA, before its hit seven-month run Off-Broadway. She has been a writer for "Roseanne," "Mad About You," "Veronica's Closet" and was the head writer for the animated series "Rugrats" for which she won an Emmy. Monica starred in her own Showtime Network special, "No, Monica, Just You" and was nominated by the American Comedy Awards as one of the top five female comedians in the country.

Piper has performed her stand up acts to rave reviews for a variety of organizations in a variety of venues. Each is tailored to the group for which she is performing. The solo show she is bringing to NJT has been performed for Jewish organizations all over the country. In it, Piper explores her Jewish roots and present life in a hilarious and heartwarming blend of stand up and storytelling. But you needn't be Jewish in order to appreciate and enjoy Monica's brand of humor. According to Ronda Spinak, Artistic Director of Jewish Women's Theatre, "audiences leave laughed out, a little teary-eyed, and happy to be Jewish ... even those who aren't."

In addition to an evening of wonderful entertainment, all ticket purchasers will receive a complimentary glass of wine. Tickets are priced as follows: General Admission - $45, including complimentary drink and pre-show nosh; Premium - $65 for Premium Seating, pre-show nosh plus a bottle of wine for the table. Additional wine will be available for purchase.

As a program of the award-winning New Jewish Theatre, your ticket helps to support our productions. The 21st Season opens on October 4 with "Tuesdays With Morrie," adapted from the well-loved book by Mitch Albom. Season subscriptions as well as single tickets are currently available.
