The Tesseract Theatre Company will continue its sixth season with Facing, a new play written by Caitlin McCommis about a woman coming to terms with the diagnosis of Crohn's Disease told through the imagination of grief and denial.

Wilda has modeled her life after that of her grandmother: to be fearless and adventure down the same dirt roads. When she's diagnosed with a debilitating illness, the vision of her future gets ripped away as she's welcomed to a club that she never asked to be a part of. But when another club member goes through a crisis, Wilda is forced to look her worst nightmare in the eye.

This play takes an unflinching view on life after the diagnosis of Crohn's disease.

The production will be directed by Madelyn Boyne. The cast of Facing will feature Laurel Stevenson, Michelle Dillard, Nancy Lubawitz, Tinah Twardowski, Anna Drehmer, and Lydia Aiken.

Caitlin McCommis is a playwright out of Seattle. Her play Facing was produced as part of a drama therapy event A Shared Pain with The Center for Hope & Healing in Pennsylvania in April 2018 before premiering at Tesseract Theatre December 2018. She holds an MFA in Playwriting from The Playwright's Lab at Hollins University.
