First Run Theatre, a professional company dedicated to presenting world premiere productions of unpublished plays by local-area playwrights, continues its seventh season with "The Last Memory of an Ol’ Brownie Fan," a one-man play by Bill Borst.  It will be directed by Jim Meady and produced by Brad Slavik.  Performance Dates are: evening performances on September 25, 26, and October 1, 2 and 3; and a matinee performance on September 27.

This is an Equity production.  Auditions are open to both Equity and non-Equity actors; however, all other things being equal (in the director’s opinion), preference will be given to the Equity actor.

Auditions are open to Saint Louis-area actors (within a 50-mile radius of the City of Saint Louis).  Auditions will be by appointment only, on June 27, starting at 10:00 AM.  The last available appointment on the 27th will be at 5:30 PM.  Please call the director (314-606-7244) for an appointment, no later than June 20.

Callbacks, if needed, will be on June 29, at 7:00 PM.  Auditions and callbacks will be at DeSmet Jesuit High School, 233 N Ballas Road, Creve Coeur.  Auditions will consist of a dramatic reading (non-Shakespeare) of the actor’s choice, no more than two minutes long, and a cold reading that will be provided by the director.  Please bring a resume and head shot of you have them.

It's the summer of 1979, somewhere in South St. Louis, and a 78-year-old man is helping his granddaughter with a school project.  Despite his increasing forgetfulness, he dictates the events of his life on a tape recorder.  As he talks, he can’t help intertwining his life memories with those his favorite baseball team, the St. Louis Browns.  His life’s ups and downs mirror the record and adventures of this one time St. Louis team.  This one-man play is a tour de force for a single actor, as it deals with life, aging, baseball, being a die-hard fan of a losing team, and the loss precious memories.

The only cast member is one White male, able to look and perform like a man in his late 70s.
