75470Dream Theater Productions kicked off the Fourth of July weekend to a sold out audience! Red, White and Broadway celebrated the birth of our nation with selections from Assassins, Rags, Hair, George M, The Civil War, Ragtime and many others. 

Gabriel Ebert, Raul Esparza, Ann Harada, Judy Kuhn, Jeremy Jordan, Patina Miller, Jason Sudeikis, George Takei, Broadway Inspirational Voices and many others headlined 'Musical Masterworks, The Music of Stephen Schwartz,' a gala benefit for Off-Broadway's esteemed Classic Stage Company last night, May 15, 2017, at Alice Tully Hall (1941 Broadway). The performance was directed by Tony Award winner John Doyle, CSC's Artistic Director. BroadwayWorld has photos from the evening below!

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley continues its 2016/2017 season with a musical saga of immigrant America, Rags. From the creators of Fiddler on the Roof and Wicked, this exhilarating musical follows the journey of Jewish immigrants Rebecca and her son David, who find themselves navigating the teeming, turn-of-the-century tenements of New York. A soaring, tuneful score (music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Stephen Schwartz) illuminates this sweeping saga (book by Joseph Stein) of dreams and disillusions, love lost and inspiration found, and the heart and soul of the American character. It was declared "A winner, warm and witty. You are tempted to rise cheering," by The Mercury News. Rags will be directed by TheatreWorks Founding Artistic Director Robert Kelley, who notes "this production could not be timelier. As America debates immigration policies, what better time to present this deeper look at the newcomer's experience." FOREVER PLAID by Stuart Ross is a musical that lends itself to offering audiences a goofy, charming musical escape, and is considered one of the most popular and successful off-Broadway musicals in history. Having never before seen a production of it, I have always been curious why those who have either been in a production or seen the show are such outspoken fans of it. Those involved with the show speak of the 'brotherhood of Plaid' that exists between those who have performed or directed the show previously, with the understanding that if called upon at any time to take part in a production of the musical, it would be a crime to not jump in and make the show an audience favorite. So when I was invited to the current production at the International City Theatre in Long Beach, I jumped at the chance to see what all the fuss is about.

It's 1924, on the Greek island of Crete, and you're about to go on a wild, whirlwind tour of the lusty passions of the human heart.

Qdos Entertainment's production of Cinderella opened last night, Wednesday 14 December 2016, and runs over the Festive season, until Sunday 15 January 2017.

With Christmas fast approaching, The Bristol Hippodrome presents this year's magical family pantomime Cinderella, starring national icons Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean as the Fairy Godparents, as previously announced. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!
