Othello on Stage Videos - West End

'I was having a conversation with my manager... I was about to start The Low Road and I had just done Hedda Gabler in London. But I really enjoyed filming. I said, 'After I finish the Low Road, let's focus on filming. Barring, I don't know... Othello in the Park, I really don't want to do another play.' That's exactly what happened for Chukwudi Iwuji, who can currently be seen starring as the title character in Othello for The Public Theatre's Shakespeare in the Park. Based on the original Donmar Warehouse production, this new production of Red by John Logan is the first ever UK revival since Grandage originated the premiere at the Donmar in 2009. The production went on to win six Tony Awards including Best Play.

The Public Theater presents VENICE, a new musical with book by Eric Rosen, music by Matt Sax, lyrics by Matt Sax and Eric Rosen, and additional music by Curtis Moore, for its 2013 spring season at the newly revitalized Public Theater at Astor Place. Directed by Eric Rosen, VENICE will run in The Public's Anspacher Theater beginning on Tuesday, May 28 through Sunday, June 23, with an official press opening on Thursday, June 13. VENICE is a next generation Broadway musical that uses the vocabulary of hip-hop while sampling Othello and Brecht to spin an epic tale of struggle and redemption. Watch a promo for the show below!

The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson) will begin previews Saturday, September 12 for the first production of the 2009-2010 Season, OTHELLO, directed by Peter Sellars. This highly-anticipated contemporary production, featuring John Ortiz as Othello and Philip Seymour Hoffman as Iago, will play for 23 performances only at NYU Skirball Center.
