The Rose Art Museum at Brandeis University and The Baltimore Museum of Art (BMA), in cooperation with the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs, will present Mark Bradford as the representative for the United States at La Biennale di Venezia 57th International Art Exhibition, on view from May 13 to November 26, 2017. Los Angeles-based Bradford, a leading light in contemporary art, will create new works in a variety of media-presented alongside existing work-for Tomorrow Is Another Day, co-curated by Christopher Bedford, BMA Dorothy Wagner Wallis Director and commissioner for the project; and Katy Siegel, BMA Senior Programming and Research Curator.

The American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) at Harvard University under the leadership of Artistic Director Diane Paulus and Executive Director Diane Quinn, will present The Night of the Iguana, written by Tennessee Williams and directed by Michael Wilson. Performances begin on Saturday, February 18 and run through Saturday, March 18 at the Loeb Drama Center, 64 Brattle St., Cambridge.

Drama Desk and OBIE-winning Transport Group will present Picnic and Come Back, Little Sheba: William Inge in Repertory, directed by Artistic Director Jack Cummings III, two plays in rotating repertory as the centerpiece of its 2016-17 season.  Performances begin Thursday, February 23 and run through Sunday, April 23 at the Gym at Judson, 243 Thompson Street.  The opening night has been set for Sunday, March 26.

A large part of The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre's goal has been to bring entertainment for all ages to the Frederick stage.  The area's only year-round producing theatre has done just that with its popular Children's Theatre.  Opened in 1996, Way Off Broadway's Children's Theatre produces shows the entire family can enjoy.  In the beginning, it produced original musical stage adaptations of classic fairytales.

According to the New York Times, Broadway actress Martha Wright passed away last week in Newburyport, Massachusetts. She was 92 years old.

The Chicago Public Library Foundation and the Chicago Public Library have announced that the 16th annual Carl Sandburg Literary Award will be presented to legendary composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim. Universally heralded for his immense contributions to musical theater in a career spanning more than 50 years, Sondheim will be honored at the Carl Sandburg Literary Awards Dinner Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at The Forum (725 W. The complete cast and creative team have been announced for The Old Globe production of William Shakespeare's delightful and romantic Twelfth Night. Rebecca Taichman, whose production of the time-traveling Time and the Conways fascinated audiences last April, is back to direct the first show of the 2015 Summer Shakespeare Festival. The Old Globe engagement will begin performances on June 21 and run through July 26, 2015, with opening night on Saturday, June 27 at 8:00 p.m., in the Lowell Davies Festival Theatre.

According to Deadline, Mary Martin's 1960 Tony Award, which she earned for her performance in The Sound of Music, was purchased at auction today for $35,000. The trophy (which was one of four that she earned throughout her career onstage) came Boston's RR Auction as a part of the estate of Martin's son, Larry Hagman, who passed away in 2012 from complications of acute myeloid leukemia.

Orange County, Calif.-Jan. 9, 2015-Composer, conductor and teacher Leonard Bernstein, one of the undeniable giants of 20th-century music, and the first American-born conductor to become a major star, becomes the focal point of Pacific Symphony's second "Music Unwound" concert this season, "For the Love of Bernstein." In 1985, a young Carl St.Clair met Bernstein as a conducting fellow at Tanglewood Music Center. A few years later in 1990, St.Clair stepped in for the ailing Maestro and conducted his "Arias and Barcarolles" during what turned out to be Bernstein's last concert. St.Clair would soon be named music director of Pacific Symphony, but the impact of Bernstein's mentoring to St.Clair has remained to this day.
