Spoiler Alert! FREAK SHOW Might Just Be Best AMERICAN HORROR STORY Yet
by Matt Tamanini - Oct 8, 2014

When I was a kid, my parents never let me go to any of the traveling carnivals and circuses that crisscrossed the Midwest. They were afraid that the Ferris Wheels, Roller Coasters, and Tilt-a-Whirls that were hastily assembled in rundown shopping center parking lots weren't safe, and that if I was to climb into one of the rides, I could become the victim of a terrible tragedy. Having watched the two hour premiere of AMERICAN HORROR STORY: FREAK SHOW, I now think that my parents significantly underestimated just how dangerous those wayfaring fairs actually were.

Highest Bidders Play Roles in OKLAHOMA! for BCP Play-A-Part Fundraiser, Now thru 8/4
by BWW News Desk - Aug 2, 2013

The Buck Creek Players will wrap up their 39th season 'In the Spotlight' with their fifth biennial Play-A-Part Fundraiser of the hit musical, Oklahoma!, sponsored in part by The Friends of Sue Leavell. Quickly becoming a BCP audience favorite, the Play-A-Part Fundraisers separate themselves from the playhouse's traditional community theater productions in that all roles are 'won' through an online silent auction with no required auditions! Veteran musical theater performers join first-timers to give this classic musical a comedic twist much like The Carol Burnett Show. Oklahoma features music by Richard Rodgers, and book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. Boasting one of Broadway's most memorable scores, including 'Oh What a Beautiful Mornin',' 'The Surrey With the Fringe on Top,' 'I Cain't Say No,' and the title tune, you can bet that this comedic take on the traditional classic musical will definitely bring a smile to your face.

Still spry, spunky, and jazz-kickin' at 78 years old, this pioneering Broadway superstar presents a bawdy, yet no-frills cabaret show that is not only chock-full of her memorable hits but is also peppered with lots of dishy details of her life in the theater.
