Kate Burton and Son Morgan Ritchie to Lead Huntington Theatre Company's THE SEAGULL

Real-life mother and son Tony and Emmy Award nominee Kate Burton (The Corn is Green, The Cherry Orchard, Hedda Gabler at the Huntington) and Morgan Ritchie (The Corn is Green) will play mother and son onstage together for the first time when they return to the Huntington Theatre Company for a lush new production of Anton Chekhov's passionate classic The Seagull. Huntington favorite Maria Aitken (The Cocktail Hour, Betrayal) will direct the Paul Schmidt translation of the classic of world drama about love, missed connections, and what it means to be an artist. Performances of The Seagull begin at the Avenue of the Arts / BU Theatre on March 7, 2014.

The romantic comedy Parfumerie, adapted by E.P. Dowdall from the Hungarian playIllatszertar by Miklos Laszlo, will have a rare revival as the first theater production of the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts (Lou Moore, Executive Director), for a limited, 29 performance engagement November 26 to December 22. The production, directed by Mark Brokaw, who is currently represented on Broadway with Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, centers on a romance that unfolds through love letters, a perfect homage to the historic Beverly Hills Post Office.

Featuring more than four dozen original songs written by Hy Zaret, co-author of the iconic popular song 'Unchained Melody,' and Lou Singer between 1959 and 1961, the albums introduced scientific concepts and terms using catchy, easy-to-learn lyrics and music to grade school students across America in the early 1960s.

Richmond Ballet is pleased to announce the line-up for the 30th Anniversary Celebration performance, debuting at the Carpenter Theatre at Richmond CenterStage, November 1-3, 2013. This special performance, celebrating the Ballet's 30 years as a professional company will feature George Balanchine's Serenade, the company premiere of Jerome Robbins's Fancy Free and Salvatore Aiello's The Rite of Spring. Serenade, George Balanchine's famous blue, neo-classical work – his first ballet to be choreographed in America – marked a turning point in the history of American ballet. Fancy Free, the inspiration for the film On The Town, signaled that Robbins was to be one of the most influential American choreographers of the 20th century. The Rite of Spring, the groundbreaking ballet set to the music by Igor Stravinsky, is now celebrating its centennial year, and returns to the Richmond Ballet repertory after a highly successful run at the Virginia Arts Festival in May of 2013.
