Tonight, April 30, The New York Pops marks its 29th birthday with a grand gala evening titled 'Journey On' honoring Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, the Tony Award-winning and Oscar-nominated songwriting team of such renowned Broadway musicals as Ragtime, Once On This Island, Seussical, My Favorite Year, A Man of No Importance, The Glorious Ones and the feature film Anastasia.

Well known in Victoria, BC, for his grand design of the Capital City's Inner Harbour, including the Parliament Buildings, The Empress, the CPR Terminal (most recently housing the Royal London Wax Museum) and the Crystal Gardens, Francis Rattenbury's tumultuous life story is truly operatic in proportion. The Other Guys Theatre Co. is proud to announce the development of composer/librettist Tobin Stokes' new chamber opera, RATTENBURY, based on the true story of the architect's fast rise, and free-fall.

The joyous journey and loving look at the blessings and perils of being a Mom is the subject of the new musical sensation, Motherhood the Musical, starring Madeline Duffy-Feins as "Amy," Jennifer Chada as "Barb," Kimberly Vanbiesbrouck as "Brooke," and Melody Betts as "Tasha." The musical runs at the Royal George Theatre, 1641 N. Halsted, through May 20. Motherhood the Musical is produced by GFour Productions, the team who successfully brought Menopause The Musical to every major market in the United States.

Daily Mail reports that the cast of Cameron Mackintosh and Tom Hooper's film version of the musical Les Miserables now includes Bertie Carvel (Matilda), Daniel Evans (Sunday in the Park with George) and Adrian Scarborough (Betty Blue Eyes). In addition, several cast members who have performed in stage versions of Les Miserables will star in the film including Caroline Sheen, Hadley Fraser, Killian Donnelly, Mike Jibson, Linzi Hateley, Gemma Wardle, Katy Secombe, Gina Beck, Fra Fee, Alexia Khadine and Katie Hall.

Paper Mill Playhouse has just announced the full creative team behind its season opener, the premiere of a new Disney stage musical, Newsies. Featuring music by eight-time Academy Award®-winning composer Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Sister Act, The Little Mermaid), lyrics by Jack Feldman and a new book by four-time Tony® Award winner Harvey Fierstein (La Cage aux Folles, Torch Song Trilogy), Newsies is adapted for the stage from the 1992 live-action Disney feature film musical. The show begins performances on Thursday, September 15. The official press opening is scheduled for Sunday, September 25.
