'[Thank you] to an incredible cast of British and American actors who make the Atlantic look like a little creek you can just kind of pop across,' said Dame Helen Mirren upon receiving her 2015 Tony Award. The stage and screen star reprised her critically-acclaimed performance in THE AUDIENCE after a West End run in 2013, and she was just one of many to 'pop across' an ocean for a stab at Broadway.  An unprecedented amount of British talent took over Broadway last year, bringing us such productions as THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME, WOLF HALL: PARTS 1 & 2, and SKYLIGHT.   It doesn't seem like the trend is ending anytime soon. This fall, Broadway will welcome a slew of British actors- some of whom will be making their US stage debuts in incoming productions. And it's not just performers. Luis Bravo's internationally acclaimed Forever Tango has played to great acclaim in Europe, Canada and throughout the United States, and most recently, enjoyed its third run on Broadway. The McCallum Theatre Luis Bravo's Forever Tango for three performances -Saturday, January 11, at 8:00pm and Sunday, January 12, at 2:00pm and 7:00pm. Forever Tango opened on Broadway in June of 1997 for what was expected to be an eight-week engagement. It ran for 14 months and has since been back to Broadway on two separate occasions. I had the opportunit to chat with Mr. Bravo about his upcoming engagement at The McCallum Theatre and more. Here are a few excerpts ffrom thea conversation.

'Luis Bravo's Forever Tango,' an evening celebrating the passionate music and dance of Argentina, will scorch the Gallo Center for the Arts stage at 8 pm on Friday, January 10. The celebrated production, which has appeared on Broadway on three occasions, features 14 dancers, one vocalist and an on-stage 11-piece orchestra which includes 'the instrument of the tango,' the bandoneon.

Luis Bravo's internationally acclaimed entertainment phenomenon, Forever Tango enters the final two weeks of its limited Broadway engagement, ending Sunday, September 15, 2013 at the Walter Kerr Theatre (219 W 48th Street). Acclaimed Argentinean tango singer Martin de Leon will join the company on Tuesday, September 3 as the final guest vocalist. Special guest star Luis Fonsi will play his final performance on Sunday, September 1, 2013.
