The Riverside Opera Company (ROC), under the direction of Maestro Alan Aurelia, presents: A Wedding in Song and Dance a performance that includes tri-state area audition winners Soprano Sun Young Chang and Tenor Seunghwan Oh performing excerpts from La Boheme, performances by Dawn Daniels and Dancers performing traditional Irish Jigs and Reels; Lydias School of Dance performing ballets from Aida by Verdi accompanied by pianist Olga Gurevich. Youth performers include Brian Moses on piano, Isabel Bruschi on violin and Kristian Marino on trumpet performing a wide range of pieces including La boheme: Musetta's Waltz, 'Flight of the Bumblebee' and 'Danny boy.

Alfie Boe is best known for his internationally critically acclaimed performances as Jean Valjean in the musical Les Miserables, playing the role in the Queen's Theatre in London, the Les Miserables: 25th Anniversary Concert in October 2010, and in the Broadway revival. He has been playing the lead role in Finding Neverland on Broadway beginning March 29, 2016. As well, Boe shared a Tony Award with the other members of the ensemble cast of Baz Luhrmann's 2002 revival of La boheme in 2003. He has sold over one million albums in the U.K.

The National Forum of Music in Wroclaw, Poland, has announced that Giancarlo Guerrero is to be the Music Director of the Wroclaw Philharmonic starting in the 2017-18 season, succeeding Benjamin Shwartz. 

In the third of Alan Gilbert's final four subscription weeks as New York Philharmonic Music Director, he will lead an enhanced concert production of Wagner's Das Rheingold. Soloists include bass-baritone Eric Owens as Wotan, mezzo-soprano Jamie Barton as Fricka (in her New York Philharmonic debut), baritone Christopher Purves as Alberich (debut), tenor Russell Thomas as Loge, mezzo-soprano Kelley O'Connor as Erda, bass Morris Robinson as Fasolt (debut), bass Stephen Milling as Fafner (debut), soprano Rachel Willis-Sorensen as Freia (debut), tenor Brian Jagde as Froh (debut), bass-baritone Christian Van Horn as Donner (debut), tenor Peter Bronder as Mime (debut), soprano Jennifer Zetlan as Woglinde, mezzo-soprano Jennifer Johnson Cano as Wellgunde, and mezzo-soprano Tamara Mumford as Flosshilde. The enhanced concert production will be directed by Louisa Muller with costume design - featuring character-based treatment of modern concert attire - by David C. Woolard. The performances will take place Thursday, June 1, 2017, at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, June 3 at 8:00 p.m.; and Tuesday, June 6 at 7:30 p.m.

San Francisco Ballet, long recognized for pushing boundaries in dance, has announced its 2017-18 Season program and schedule. This summer, SF Ballet will return to Festival Napa Valley for one performance only on Friday, July 21, 2017, accompanied by members of the SF Ballet Orchestra. In addition, this October, the Company will once again participate in World Ballet Day LIVE, a day-long streaming event (details to be announced).

Music Director Xian Zhang and the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra present Schubert's “Great” Symphony and works by Sibelius and Mozart, May 11–14 in Newark, Princeton, Red Bank and New Brunswick. The California Symphony today announced its 2017-18 season, its thirty-first, and its fifth with Music Director Donato Cabrera. The season includes a world premiere and a West Coast premiere, first performances of Mozart's Requiem and Sibelius's Third Symphony, the first performances in more than 20 years of Beethoven's Symphony No. 6, Pastoral, and Mahler's Symphony No. 4, the first performance of a work of Mahler's since the Orchestra's 1997-98 season. The Orchestra also welcomes guest soloists Haochen Zhang in Brahms' Piano Concerto No. 2; soprano Maria Valdes in Barber's Knoxville: Summer of 1915 and in Mahler's Symphony No. 4; and Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1 with Alexi Kenney. The Orchestra gives the world premiere of new Young American Composer-in-Residence Katherine Balch's newest work, a California Symphony commission; and performs two works by Bay Area-based composer Nathaniel Stookey: the West Coast premiere of YTTE (Yield to Total Elation), and The Composer is Dead, the popular orchestral whodunit by Stookey and author Lemony Snicket, with Broadway star Manoel Felciano as narrator. Other highlights include performances with the San Francisco Conservatory Chorus and conductor Ragnar Bohlin of Vaughan Williams' Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis and Arvo Pärt's Te Deum, as part of the Mozart Requiem concert, and a performance of Smetana's Vltava (Die Moldau).

In a new partnership, WWFM The Classical Network will air New Jersey Symphony Orchestra concert broadcasts on Friday, March 31; Thursday, April 27; and Friday, June 2. Each broadcast airs at 8 pm on 89.1 FM and streams simultaneously online at www.wwfm.org. The programs will feature music by Tchaikovsky, Haydn, Strauss and more in performances led by Music Director Xian Zhang, recorded live at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark. Webcasts will become available for on-demand listening on the NJSO and WWFM websites.

The Minnesota Orchestra announces plans today for Sommerfest 2017, unveiling a celebratory summer festival in which the Orchestra salutes two of its artistic leaders: Doc Severinsen on his 90th birthday, and Sommerfest Artistic Director Andrew Litton, who has announced that this summer will mark his final season as the head of the festival. Running from July 3 to August 5, Minnesota Orchestra's summer season includes two tribute concerts to Pops Conductor Laureate Severinsen; performances by Litton and his friends André Watts, William Wolfram and New York City Ballet dancers; and culminates with the opera Litton has long wanted to conduct in Minnesota, Strauss' Salome. The summer season also involves the annual Symphony for the Cities concerts, two previously announced regular season programs and the return of the Minnesota Orchestra Fantasy Camp.

Classical singer/musical actress, Aimee Marcoux-Spurlock, whose true-life story will come to the big screen in 2017, will make her Metropolitan Room debut on February 3rd with Women of Bilbao, a collection of Kurt Weill's compositions from his 12-tone Weimar period to his more lush Broadway compositions. Marcoux-Spurlock has performed over fifty operatic, musical theater and oratorio roles with leading orchestras and opera companies across the globe. The Women of Bilbao repertoire will include 'Surabaya Johnny' from Happy End, 'Moon of Alabama,' from The Rise and Fall of the City ofMahagonny and 'That's Him' from One Touch of Venus. The singer will be joined by Doug Martin as Pianist/ Conductor (Baz Luhrmann's La Boheme on Broadway).

Utah Opera Artistic Director Christopher McBeth today announced Utah Opera's 2017-18 season in recognition of the company's 40th anniversary.

For the first time in its history, the Atlanta Opera presents Don Pasquale, Donizetti's comic masterpiece. Taking a new slant on the original, this production is transposed to the golden era of Hollywood in the 1950's.
