THE BELLE OF AMHERST, OTHELLO and AS YOU LIKE IT Set for Austin Shakespeare's 2013-14 Season

Celebrating its 30th year in 2014, Austin Shakespeare announces its new season starting with the acclaimed solo portrait of Emily Dickinson, The Belle of Amherst, starring Helen Merino (Hamlet) Nov. 14-Dec. 1, 2013; and Shakespeare's masterpiece, Othello, Feb. 12-Mar. 2, 2014; both performed at The Long Center's Rollins Theater, where Austin Shakespeare is a resident company. The season ends May 1-25, 2014 with Shakespeare's perfect romantic comedy, As You Like It. The company will return to Zilker Park for the 30th anniversary of 'FREE Shakespeare in the Park.'

Shopkeepers and artists are just a few of the Grove and Forest Park Southeast residents who will appear alongside professional actors in a play artfully adapted from William Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale, as part of the second annual, wildly popular, Shakespeare in the Streets event, it was announced today by Shakespeare Festival St. Louis Executive Director Rick Dildine. The event is scheduled Thursday through Saturday, Sept. 19-21.

The Shakespeare Theatre Company's annual Free For All is a much-loved Washington tradition, offering free Shakespeare performances to the general public for the past 22 years. This year the beloved tradition launches the Company's 2013-2014 Season by reviving Much Ado About Nothing, initially presented during the 2011-2012 Season with original direction by Ethan McSweeny. Much Ado About Nothing will run at STC's Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW) from August 20-September 1, 2013. Old Globe Artistic Director Barry Edelstein's inaugural season kicks off with The Last Goodbye, a new musical that marries Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet and the electrifying songs of the legendary singer-songwriter Jeff Buckley. As previously announced, the rock musical is directed by two-time Tony Award nominee Alex Timbers (Peter and the Starcatcher, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson) with choreography by Sonya Tayeh ("So You Think You Can Dance"). The 2013-14 Season will also feature the World Premieres of The Few by Samuel D. Hunter and Dog and Pony, a new musical by Rick Elice and Michael Patrick Walker. Edelstein will make his Old Globe directorial debut with Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale. Rounding out the season are the California Premiere of Pulitzer Prize winner Water by the Spoonful by Quiara Alegria Hudes, the West Coast Premiere of Bethany by Laura Marks, the J.B. Priestley classic Time and the Conways and Christopher Durang's current Broadway hit Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike.
