Pivot Arts launches its second annual celebration of innovative performance events, May 28 - June 14, throughout Chicago's Uptown, Edgewater and Rogers Park neighborhoods. STAGE17, a new digital entertainment destination for episodic fiction and reality programming, launched the series on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, and will release the subsequent episodes each Wednesday through May 14, 2014.

Alley Theatre Artistic Director Gregory Boyd announces the cast and creative team for Alan Ayckbourn's science fiction comedy Communicating Doors. Eleven plays penned by Alan Ayckbourn have been produced by the Alley, including the American premiere of Henceforward, directed by Ayckbourn, in 1987 and House & Garden in 2002. Alan Ayckbourn has been inducted into the American Theatre's Hall of Fame, received the 2010 Critics' Circle Award for Services to the Arts, became the first British playwright to receive both Olivier and Tony Special Lifetime Achievement Awards and was knighted in 1997 for services to the theatre.
As a featured event of its Tenth Anniversary Spring Rep season, Phoenix Theatre Ensemble (www.PhoenixTheatreEnsemble.org) will present 'Dogg's Hamlet, Cahoot's Macbeth' by Tom Stoppard from May 2 to 23, 2014 at The Wild Project 195 E. 3rd Street (at Ave. B). It's an evening of two short plays in which Stoppard radically shortens 'Hamlet' and 'Macbeth' to craft a witty Shakespearean two-step on serious themes of artistic dissent. Kevin Confoy directs.

Stage Door Productions is proud to be Memphis' newest 501(c)(3) non-profit performing arts organization. Stage Door Productions will make its home on the Memphis Kroc Center stage, a 300-seat theatre this February. Co-Founder and Executive Director Lindsay Mitchell along with Co-Founder and Artistic Director Brandon Kelly will continue management of the Memphis Kroc Center Arts Department through the newly formed company.

New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) and The Second City, the country's leading improv comedy troupe, today announced a partnership that adds Newark to Hollywood, Toronto and Chicago as a training site for the revered company's comedy improvisation workshops for aspiring comedians of all ages. The courses, to be held in NJPAC's Center for Arts Education in August 2014, will include two sets of classes for teens, one with curriculum specifically designed for students with the Autism Spectrum Disorder, as well as a course for adults. With this program, NJPAC adds the comedy genre to its arts education offerings, allowing students to explore the fundamentals of improvisation as they study the same building blocks of scene-work used on Second City's stages by the likes of Mike Myers, Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert and Tina Fey. Registration begins in January 2014 at www.njpac.org.

Wells Fargo Center for the Arts welcomes the holiday season in the newly renovated Ruth Finley Person Theater (50 Mark West Springs Road, Santa Rosa) with a lineup of celebrated music, comedy, dance and family performances. The 2013-2014 season is well underway and continues with a performance featuring the talents of singer-songwriters Emmylou Harris & Rodney Crowell with Richard Thompson (November 2), the classic vocals of nine-time Grammy award winner Natalie Cole (November 24) and rounds out 2013 with a celebration of the holiday season, including Moscow Ballet's Great Russian Nutcracker (December 18 and 19) and The Brian Setzer Orchestra: Christmas Rocks 10th Anniversary Tour! (December 26). Since its reopening in August, after a $2.8 million renovation, the Ruth Finley Person Theater has showcased a variety of talent from Patti LaBelle to Lewis Black to The Beach Boys.
Trinity Repertory Company announces open enrollment for lifelong learning classes. The program is currently accepting registration, and fall classes begin as early as August 29. Committed to the belief in theater for every generation, the education department offers a wide array of performance classes for adults taught by the resident acting company and artistic staff. For those too shy to be on stage, the department offers a playwriting class and discussion series illuminating the artistic process.
