The source material is 'The Light Princess' by George MacDonald, a fairy tale released in 1864. According to the site, 'puppetry was one of the focal points of exploration.' Puppetry is something Elliott is all too familiar with, having previously co-directed WAR HORSE at the National in 2007. Whatsonstage reports that the musical will see a world premiere at the Lyttelton Theatre in 2012.
