Legendary costume designer ALBERT WOLSKY and world renowned scenic designer MING CHO LEE are among the 2010 TDF/Irene Sharaff Awards recipients. The awards will be presented at a ceremony on Friday, April 23 at 6:30pm at the Hudson Theatre (145 West 44th Street). Two-time Academy Award-winner Albert Wolsky will receive the 2010 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for costume design, and Tony Award-winning scenic designer and educator Ming Cho Lee will receive the TDF/Irene Sharaff Robert L.B. Tobin Award for Sustained Excellence in Theatrical Design.

Japan Society's spring Globus Film Series Mad, Bad... & Dangerous to Know: Three Untamed Beauties of Japanese Cinema celebrates some of the most radical portrayals of Japanese women in film history by three iconic actresses. From March 31 through April 18, the 13-film series unfolds in three parts over three weeks: Ayako Wakao: Passion Made Flesh, Meiko Kaji: A Mad, Bad Unholy Easter Weekend; and Mariko Okada: The Discreet Charm of the Adulteress. General admission to each screening is $11/$7 Japan Society members, students & seniors. Tickets to the March 31 opening screening, Tattoo (Irezumi) are $15/$10 Japan Society members, students & seniors, and include entry to the DRESSED TO KILL! after party.

This year's honoree was James Calleri, of Calleri Casting, for his longstanding support of adventurous independent Off-Broadway theatre and his helping spark the careers of many of America's finest actors.
CAA Announces 2010 Overture Award Winners

The Cincinnati Arts Association is pleased to announce the winners of the 2010 Overture Awards Scholarship Competition, held on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at the Aronoff Center's Jarson-Kaplan Theater. The competition annually awards $2,500 scholarships to six area students for post-secondary education, with 18 runners-up each winning $500 scholarships. Students are nominated by their schools to compete in one of six disciplines: Creative Writing, Dance, Instrumental Music, Theater, Visual Art or Vocal Music. The scholarship program is the largest of its kind in the U.S. and was developed to recognize, encourage and reward excellence in the arts among Tri-state students in grades 9-12. There are three levels of competition: Regional, Semi-Final and Final.
La Jolla Announces SDAART as Its 2010 Resident Theatre Company

La Jolla Playhouse is proud to announce its 2010/11 season resident theatre company: San Diego Asian American Repertory Theater (SDAART). This marks the third year of the Playhouse's landmark Resident Theatre Program, and the newly-appointed company will be in residence in the Theodore and Adele Shank Theatre (formerly the Mandell Weiss Forum Studio) in August/September, 2010, during which they will present Julia Cho's heartwarming drama BFE. SDAART will return to the Playhouse again in May/June, 2011, when they will present their second annual Short Play Festival: Innerviews.
