An actress whose professional demeanor is upended at the absolute worst possible moment because her ex-boyfriend is sitting in the audience in What Are You Doing Here?, Maria Alexandria Beech's painfully funny tale of colliding lives, broken hearts and the ultimate symbiotic relationship. Starring Maggie Surovell & Kelley Jackson Garcia and directed by Michelle Bossy, What Are You Doing Here? will begin performances on June 4th at the Gene Frankel Theatre, located at 24 Bond Street as part of the 2011 Planet Connections Theatre Festivity.

Director Kate Adams-Johnson, aka Nashville's busiest choreographer, is putting yet another cast through the paces in preparation for another opening night. But this time, she's serious. Very serious. The show, you see, is every dancer's favorite musical: A Chorus Line. Kate's cast is a blending of familiar faces and newcomers and so over the next few weeks, you'll get to know the members of The Keeton Theatre's cast - as you'll see, some of them have much to learn about being interviewed by 'Nashville's favorite theater critic.' Next up is Erin Spencer...who should know the drill by now...

What puppeteer doesn't wonder what will happen to him as he impersonates the creator? In 'Wake Up, You're Dead!,' Aaron Haskell of Brooklyn Art Department (www.brooklynartdepartment.com), one of the original designers of Nightmare: NYC's Haunted House, gives us a Halloween-flavored creation myth. It's a De La Guarda-type event and spectacle that adds a late-night attraction to 'La MaMa Puppet Series IV--Built to Perform.' It will be presented October 29 to November 7 in the second-floor Club of La MaMa E.T.C., 74A East Fourth Street.

Ars Nova (Jason Eagan, Artistic Director; Jeremy Blocker, Managing Director) proudly announces the lineup for ANT Fest 2010. This year's thirty-show lineup features a range of talent, covering everything from sketch comedy to musical theater to ventriloquist rock, all on the Ars Nova stage! Conceived as a way of offering emerging artists of all kinds a point of entry into the New York arts community, this year's shows were selected from an open submission process that drew nearly 200 applicants. Now in its third year, the festival of All New Talent has quickly established itself as the premier destination to catch an eclectic mix of brand new music, theater and comedy shows. It has also become an important first step in the development process of various projects, such as Seven Minutes in Heaven (ANT Fest 2009; HERE Arts Center Spring 2010), Songs of a Night Owl (ANT Fest 2009, Berkshire Theater Festival Summer 2010 as Pool Boy), Samuel and Alasdair (ANT Fest 2009, 2010 NY Independent Theater Award for Outstanding Production of a Play), and Ithaca (ANT Fest 2008, sold out Joe's Pub run in 2009). In addition to the thirty ANT Fest shows, Ars Nova will also be offering its hit variety show, Showgasm, throughout the Fest. Featuring a mix of current and previous Fest artists, the first installation will be a special ANT Fest Kickoff Showgasm, at 8pm on October 18. The following two will be late night (10pm) on November 5 and 19. As always, all Showgasms are FREE, but reservations are encouraged and can be made at www.arsnovanyc.com/showgasm. Village Originals has announced the official selections for the 10th Annual Festival of New Musicals taking place August 12-15, 2010 at the Francis J. Gaudette Theatre in Issaquah. This is an invitation only event, not open to the public. The Annual Festival of New Musicals has become a jumping off point for a number of Village Theatre's most popular new works. Leading writers and producers from across the world come together for this invite-only event to be part of the process of developing new musicals. Since 2001, the Village Originals Festival has developed over 50 new musicals and worked with over 100 authors.
