Theater for the New City, 155 First Avenue, will present its 40th annual Thunderbird American Dancers Dance Concert and Pow Wow from tonight, January 30 to February 8, 2015. There will be dances, stories and traditional music from the Iroquois and Native Peoples of the Northeast, Southwest and Great Plains regions. The event has become a treasured New York tradition for celebrating our diversity by honoring the culture of our first Americans.

Capital Stage continues its commitment to training the next generation of professional artists with the presentation of SEXUAL PERVERSITY IN CHICAGO, by David Mamet. The Third Annual Apprentice Showcase features the work of the 2014-2015 Capital Stage Apprentice Corps, and all aspects of the production-acting, directing, design, and administration-will be done by the Apprentices. Performances of SEXUAL PERVERSITY IN CHICAGO will run from February 6-21, 2015 and will perform immediately following select performances of IDEATION by Aaron Loeb at Capital Stage.

Mother Road Theatre Company presents the modern masterpiece AMERICAN BUFFALO. During one long day in a run-down junk shop, three men of great ambition and low morals plan a heist of a customer's valuable coin collection. When the con goes awry, it's every man for himself. This fast paced drama is all aggression and testosterone, with characters wielding words like weapons to intimidate, cajole and manipulate each other. The results are hilarious, powerful and ultimately tragic in a play that won the 1976 Obie Award for Best New Play, the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Play and was nominated for two Tony Awards.

Offering a fresh look at the groundbreaking play that established David Mamet as a seismic force in theater, the Department of Music, Theatre and Dance at California State University, Los Angeles joins forces with multiple award-winning Deaf West Theatre to present American Buffalo. Professor of Theater and longtime Deaf West collaborator Stephen Rothman directs Deaf West regulars Troy Kotsur (Spring Awakening, Cyrano) and Paul Raci (Cyrano, What Are You...Deaf?) along with Cal State L.A. MFA candidate Matthew Ryan Pest for a Feb. 14 opening at the 250-seat State Playhouse on the university campus (just east of downtown).

Theatrical Outfit begins its Season of Compassion with the dramatic comedy The Savannah Disputation, written by Georgia-born playwright Evan Smith and, he says, inspired by today's politics and his Savannah grandmother. The show will run August 21 - September 7, 2014. The show will feature Alex Bond, Lane Carlock, Shannon Eubanks and Mark Kincaid. This is the 38th season for Theatrical Outfit, the second-oldest professional theater company in Atlanta, and the home of stories that stir the soul.
