The Napa Valley Opera House yesterday announced the following schedule of performances taking place throughout the month of June.
St. Ann's Warehouse will present a colossal celebration of tiny art, Great Small Works' Tenth International Toy Theater Festival, June 14-23.
The Philip K. Dick Science Fiction Film Festival is the city's first event of its kind celebrating the genre. The organizers behind the event which takes place in Brooklyn from from December 7-9, 2012 are excited to preview the award-winning films before their anticipated screenings. From the minds of talented filmmakers the festival brings forth the wisdom of worlds unlike anything seen before and showcase the possibilities of what science fiction offers.
It is sometimes referred to as the "San Francisco Exodus of 1858" a little-known part of the City's history in which hundreds of African Americans fled discrimination and the threat of slavery for the safety of a Canadian exile. Choreographer Joanna Haigood and her Zaccho Dance Theatre (www.zaccho.org) are marking the iconic event with free public performances of her powerful work Sailing Away. Performances will be given in three continuous cycles today, September 13, 14, 15, and 16 at 12noon, 1:30pm and 3pm daily starting at Market Street and Powell.
