Mink Stole and Penny Arcade Star in THE MUTILATED by Tennessee Williams, Now thru 11/24

Like nearly all of Williams's later, more experimental plays, The Mutilated was met with stinging reviews, disappointment and even anger when it premiered on Broadway in 1966 (with The Gnadiges Fraulein, under the collective title Slapstick Tragedy). "I know Mr. Williams is trying to do something ambitious and ambiguous but, gee, I wish he would just give something old and square like A Streetcar Named Desire," wrote John McClain in the New York Journal-American. Directed by Cosmin Chivu, legendary avant-garde performers Mink Stoleand Penny Arcade will star in the first New York revival of The Mutilated in 38 years. The production features original music composed byJesse Selengut, performed by the three-piece combo Tin Pan.

Added performances of this long-forgotten treasure, by French playwright Jacques Deval and adapted by the American author Robert E. Sherwood, are Thursday, Friday and Saturday, August 29th, 30th and 31st at 8 p.m.; and Saturday August 31st and Sunday, September 1st at 2 p.m.

The NATIONAL NEW PLAY NETWORK (NNPN), the country's alliance of non-profit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, announces the 15th Anniversary Celebration performances of Permanent Collection by Thomas Gibbons. A staged reading of the original Rolling World Premiere will be presented on Monday, April 22 at Core Member Theaters across the country, including Actor's Theatre of Charlotte (Charlotte, NC), InterAct Theatre Company (Philadelphia, PA), Kitchen Dog Theater (Dallas, TX), Riverside Theatre (Iowa City, IA), Salt Lake Acting Company (Salt Lake City, UT), and Unicorn Theatre (Kansas City, MO). Gibbons' award-winning play has gone on to more than 30 productions across the country and around the world since it was first produced in 2003.

RADIO GOLF is the final play in his ten-play Pittsburgh cycle. Set in the late 1990's the play is Wilson's closing reflection on a decade-by-decade historic depiction of the African-American experience as an entrepreneur aspires to become the city's first African-American mayor. RADIO GOLF stars Kim E. Brown, Tiffany R. Barrett, Andre N. Jones, Damien J. Wallace and Roderick Slocum.
