The French Institute Alliance Fran aise (FIAF), New York's premier French cultural and language center, today announced the 2019 Crossing the Line Festival, featuring 11 performances and a gallery exhibition from a geographically, generationally, and artistically diverse group of artists whose work transcends genres and boundaries. All performances are world, US, or New York premieres; they are united by their convention-breaking fearlessness as they confront topics from social injustice to personal demons. Many of the performances pay homage to legendary artists of our time and previous eras, while the theme of migration and its transformational effects on identity informs several others. Central Works "cheeky" thriller The Victorian Ladies' Detective Collective by award-winning  playwright Patricia Milton has been extended through June 9 (originally scheduled to close June 2). Directed by Gary Graves, this show is the fifth writer/director comic collaboration between Central Works' resident playwright and its company co-director. Last season, Central Works' production of Bamboozled by Patricia Milton won 4 TBA awards, including both awards in the Outstanding Performer slots for Stacy Ross & Chelsea Bearce (also playing in this production), along with Entire Ensemble and Outstanding Production.

Central Works season of new plays continues this spring with a "cheeky" thriller written by the local award-winning playwright Patricia Milton, The Victorian Ladies' Detective Collective, opening May 4 running through June 2 (previews 5/2 & 3); world-premiere # 63, from the Central Works Writers Workshop. The production, directed by Gary Graves, is the fifth writer/director comic collaboration between Central Works' resident playwright and its company co-director. In Victorian London it seems Jack the Ripper may be at it again where sisters Loveday and Valeria run a boarding house for Single Ladies. When a series of gruesome murders terrorizes the neighborhood, they appeal to the police for protection. But Scotland Yard is no help at all. The bodies are piling up on their doorstep! So the women join with an American ex-pat to bring the killer to justice on their own. Last season's CW production of Bamboozled by Patricia Milton won both TBA awards in the Outstanding Performer slots for Stacy Ross & Chelsea Bearce (now in this production), along with Entire Ensemble and Outstanding Production.
