BWW JR: A Tour of the New Amsterdam Theatre

Last weekend the folks at Disney Theatrical set me and my daughter up for a real treat. My eight-year-old, her friend and I along with other bloggers and columnists were all invited on a special preview tour of the New Amsterdam Theatre, home to Broadway's Mary Poppins. This was more than a backstage tour (which ps, you can get if you toss $150 into the BCEFA holiday collection bucket from now until December 4th…if you are lucky enough to be seeing Mary Poppins this week, consider taking advantage of this special treat in return for supporting a terrific cause).

Invasion: Christmas Carol - Dad’s Garage Theatre gives the holiday classic a kick in the Dickens
by Joseph Harrison - Nov 20, 2011

Replace your regular holiday tradition with a Dad's Garage tradition - kicking classic theatre in the tookus! Returning to the stage on Friday, Nov. 25th at 8pm (after three years of success) the award-winning Dad's Garage Ensemble will again be skewering the quintessential Christmas play - A Christmas Carol. You'll see your favorite characters acting in ways that might not be so familiar as our improvisers create a whole new holiday experience right before your very eyes. Every evening the audience will choose a new 'invader' (who is complete surprise to the cast and can be anything from a big purple monster to Paula Deen) to infiltrate the world of Scrooge. It's up to the cast to keep the story on track, but because this year will be bursting with even more improv flavor than last year, things are guaranteed to get even nuttier than a Cornish game hen!
