NYC based theatre company Mississippi Mud Productions announces its first production in Lido Beach, NY located about 25 miles outside of NYC. The company produces Tennessee Williams' one-acts Moony's Kid Don't Cry, directed by Jen Danby; The Lady of Larkspur Lotion, directed by Daniel Capalbo, Jr, with Miss Danby as Mrs. Hardwicke-Moore, an early sketch of Blanche DuBois; and Interior: Panic, an early sketch of A Streetcar Named Desire, directed by Edward Bergen and starring Jen Danby and Colleen Leone as sisters Blanche and Grace. Producers Jeffrey Richards and John N. Hart Jr., in association with the American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.), have announced that the box office will open on Thursday, August 8th for the 17-week limited engagement of the critically-acclaimed revival of The Glass Menagerie at the Booth Theatre (222 W 45th Street) with performances beginning Thursday, September 5, 2013, and an opening night set for Thursday, September 26th. 1948's Summer and Smoke was rewritten in the 60s by Tennessee Williams and what resulted was a more clearly structured/themed play with the same central characters entitled The Eccentricities of a Nightingale. Music teacher Miss Alma, daughter of an Episcopalean minister, was passionately in love with her neighbor young Dr. John Buchanan and when that love was unrequited rather than become a miserable spinster, she turned to prostitution. Now in a rare and lovely production of the refined play @ A Noise Within, Williams poetic spirit is alive and well in Miss Alma, the Spanish word for soul.

There's little drama to be had in first-time playwright George Stevens, Jr's solo play, Thurgood, a textbook review of the career of civil rights attorney and eventual U.S. Supreme Court JustIce Thurgood Marshall. Set at the Howard University Law School Auditorium with The Playgoers serving as the title character's audience, the ninety minute piece offers a chronological telling of his personal history without much happening in the immediate present. It's a bit like watching a historical documentary of a familiar story with none of that great archival footage.
