Thus, we are happy to present a new feature: The Nashville Theater Calendar, a comprehensive - maybe even exhaustive (lord knows we're exhausted from putting it together, gathering all the info from all over the interwebs!) - listing of theatrical openings for the 2015/16 season. We'll update the calendar every Monday, clearing out the shows that have closed and adding additional information on the shows still to come. Something's missing? SOUTH PACIFIC Begins Tonight at Ivoryton Playhouse
by BWW News Desk - Jul 1, 2015

The issue of racism is front and center in America today and the Ivoryton Playhouse production of SOUTH PACIFIC could not be more timely. The story for Rodgers and Hammerstein's 1949 musical is drawn from a Pulitzer-Prize-winning novel by James A. Michener, entitled Tales of the South Pacific, and is considered by most critics to be among the greatest musicals of the twentieth century. For their adaptation, Rodgers and Hammerstein, along with co-writer Joshua Logan, won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1950.

Year TENN, Provincetown Tennessee Williams Theater Festival Sets 2015 Program
by Tyler Peterson - Jun 1, 2015

Announcing the program for Year TENN, Provincetown Tennessee Williams Theater Festival (TW Fest), Co-founder and Curator David Kaplan said, "This year's festival celebrates what happened to Tennessee Williams in Provincetown during the last ten years: his plays got performed here. We've rethought his classics, and rethought the plays he wrote that had been ignored or dismissed. The mantra that Williams had lost his mojo was replaced with cheers at the world premieres in P'town of The Remarkable Rooming-House of Madame LeMonde (TW Fest 2009) and The Milk Train Doesn't Stop Here Anymore (TW Fest 2013). So we're bringing those two productions back for our audiences to cheer in 2015, along with eight other hits and variations."

by Christina Mancuso - May 6, 2015

DGT Book Promotions, LLC is proud to announce the release of it's first title, 'The Magic Chest: Sands of Time' by author D.G. Thomas. 'The Magic Chest: Sands of Time' is an intriguing children's story that will appeal to audiences of all ages about a brother and sister who discover a magical wooden chest in the attic of a 100 year old farmhouse their family recently moved into. The children travel through time and space through items in the magic chest to experience adventure, solve mysteries, learn life lessons and meet new friends. This is the first installment of the upcoming Magic Chest Book Series to be published exclusively by DGT Book Promotions, LLC. When asked about the purpose of the series Thomas stated that she 'hopes the Magic Chest Book Series will open up a dialogue between parents and children about themselves when they were their children's age and stories of their relatives, family history and ancestry.' About The Book Nine year old Jessie and her seven year old brother Ethan are the new kids to arrive on John's Island, South Carolina. Their family just moved into a 100 year old farmhouse that has a mysterious attic full of old toys and a magical wooden chest. When Jessie and Ethan open the old wooden chest they see five items inside. After Jessie touches a gold pocket watch inside the chest a note written in enchanted words on old parchment paper suddenly appears floating inside the chest. Jessie and Ethan read the magical words on the note and in an instant the children disappear from the attic. Travel through time and space on an adventure with Jessie and Ethan into the 1950's as they meet an exciting and brave new friend and learn the mystery behind the gold pocket watch in book one of The Magic Chest Book Series: Sands of Time. Praise for 'The Magic Chest: Sands of Time': 'Imagination, interesting illustrations and creative story telling combine in this well written book for children. You know whether they can read on their own or you read aloud the enjoyment will be the same.' - CC, Amazon Reviews 'This book is cleverly written, exciting with some action, and makes you look forward to sequels that can lead to other adventures in the attic or with the magical chest. It is easy for early readers, appropriate for a variety of ages, and a wonderful springboard for discussion about moving, family, grandparents, and family stories from long ago.' - Rachel Horon, Amazon reviews About The Author D.G. BWW Preview: Christmas with San Francisco Symphony and More
by Harmony Wheeler - Dec 15, 2014

With an overwhelming number of productions and events on the horizon, I find it difficult as a critic to decide what shows to cover ("criticism" is not the most appropriate quality of the holiday; therefore I aim to stay positive in this article). Fortunately, we can share Christmas without sharing the same theatrical experiences. So, take a moment to tell BroadwayWorld San Francisco what holiday shows and experiences you will visit this winter, and don't forget to check out BroadwayWorld's picks for a Bay Area holiday extravaganza!
