A founding resident company of The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia (COP) announces its 2017-2018 Season. From September 2017 through May 2018, the Chamber Orchestra will perform six programs as part of its subscription series. All six concert pairs will be performed in the Kimmel Center's intimate Perelman Theater.

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley kicks off its 48th season with the World Premiere of The Four Immigrants: An American Musical Manga. Drawn from one of the first ever graphic novels, set to an infectious ragtime and vaudeville score by local composer/lyricist Min Kahng, the comic musical follows four Japanese immigrants in a world of possibility and prejudice: turn-of-the-twentieth-century San Francisco. From a tumultuous earthquake to an exhilarating World's Fair, the quartet pursues the American Dream, despite limited options in the land of opportunity. Directed by TheatreWorks Associate Artistic Director Leslie Martinson, and developed at TheatreWorks' 2016 New Works Festival, the World Premiere ofThe Four Immigrants: An American Musical Manga will be presented July 12-August 6, 2017 (press opening: July 15) at Lucie Stern Theatre, 1305 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto. Barrie and how his relationship with widow Sylvia Llewelyn Davies and her four boys, George, Jack, Peter and Michael, inspired him to write the classic play, 'Peter Pan.' MasterVoices (formerly The Collegiate Chorale), closes its 75th anniversary season with Victor Herbert's Babes in Toyland on April 27, 2017 at 7pm at Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall (57th Street and 7th Avenue, New York, NY 10019). The production will be conducted and directed by MasterVoices' Artistic Director Ted Sperling and will feature Kelli O'Hara (Contrary Mary), Bill Irwin (Master Toymaker), Christopher Fitzgerald (Alan), Lauren Worsham (Jane), Jay Armstrong Johnson (Tom Tom), Jonathan Freeman (Uncle Barnaby), Chris Sullivan (Gonzorgo), Jeffrey Schecter (Roderigo), Michael Kostroff (Chief Inspector Marmaduke), and Blair Brown (The Narrator), with the 130 singers of MasterVoices and Orchestra of St. Luke's. Musical Staging by Andrew Palermo, Costume Consulting by Tracy Christensen, and Concert Adaptation by Joe Keenan and Ted Sperling.

In the Dark Times will there also be Singing? The San Francisco International Arts Festival takes Bertolt Brecht's rhetorical question as its theme for 2017 (and beyond) and forms the bedrock of a commitment to develop an artistic platform that addresses the dangerous domestic and foreign policy political abyss currently confronting the United States of America.

This spring, Joe's Pub at The Public welcomes a lineup of singer-songwriters that redefine the traditional conventions of the title. A Joe's Pub favorite, Lady Rizo is a cabaret star with songwriter chops, who will debut a new show, Red, White & Indigo, all about her love-hate relationship with America, and tease her forthcoming album Indigo from March 23-25.

The production will be conducted by MasterVoices' Artistic Director Ted Sperling and will feature previously announced stars Kelli O'Hara, Bill Irwin, Lauren Worsham, Christopher Fitzgerald - with Jonathan Freeman, Chris Sullivan, and Jeffrey Schecter just joining the lineup - alongside 130 singers of MasterVoices, with Orchestra of St. Luke's.

The Chan Centre for the Performing Arts at UBC presents the Vancouver premiere of Germany's iconic vocalist Max Raabe and his brilliant,12-piece Palast Orchester on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at 7pm in the Chan Shun Concert Hall. Evoking a bygone age, Raabe and his band will treat audiences to a romantic evening with their inimitable renditions of celebrated classics.

David Mirvish will present the national tour of Sam Mendes (Spectre, American Beauty) and Rob Marshall's (Into the Woods and Chicago, the films) Tony Award-winning production of CABARET. CABARET will play a strictly one-week engagement, February 14 - 19 at the Princess of Wales Theatre.

Standing over 15 feet tall, weighing over 2 and a half tons, cast in bronze, and clad in a copper tutu, Hippo Ballerina will make her Broadway debut  at Dante Park in front of Lincoln Center on 64th Street in NYC beginning February 7. Inspired by Degas' Little Dancer Aged Fourteen and the dancing hippos of Walt Disney's Fantasia, Hippo Ballerina vividly illustrates how subjects and themes found in ancient myths, art history, modern animation, and contemporary popular culture can be transformed in playful ways that engage the viewer. She will be joined nearby by her bronze besties, which include a dancing bear, a scootering cheetah, and a pogoing kangaroo on view at Cavalier Gallery's companion exhibition, Bronze Creatures Great and Small, opening February 7.

The 2017 San Francisco International Arts Festival will feature a brilliant 11 day program co-presented with, and held exclusively at, the Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture.

The Atlanta Opera will present the first-ever production of From Opera to Opry: Liquor, Love and the Lord on Wednesday, December 7 at The Shakespeare Tavern Playhouse. The concert event, in collaboration with ADA Ovations, will feature renowned professional opera singers... as well as the bluegrass and country stylings of Cletus McHatfield and the McHatfield Fambly Singers. The evening will include an entertaining blend of country music, bluegrass, opera arias, and humor that gets right to the heart of the striking similarity between the themes and inspiration that drove both legendary opera composers and iconic country songwriters to write the music that speaks to us all.

Sometimes the words we speak become a secret code for what we really feel. Shortly before an audition for her first professional Shakespeare play, gifted and entitled young actor Anna arrives in a college rehearsal hall expecting help from brilliant, bitter acting instructor Curt. When their work together leads to professional success but personal misery, they must decide whether or not to break their Shakespeare code and uncover how they really feel about each other.

The American Contemporary Music Ensemble (ACME) embarks on a busy month of concerts on October 6 at Le Poisson Rouge in New York with Nordic Noir, a concert featuring music by Danish composers Frans Bak, Ejnar Kanding and MBD73. ACME will tour with Blonde Redhead from October 9-14, performing the band's album Misery is a Butterfly in its entirety, before joining Icelandic composer Johann Johannsson for a tour supporting his recent Deutsche Grammophon album Orphee from October 16-23. Upon returning to New York, ACME performs with German thereminist and composer Carolina Eyck in the world premiere of her Fantasias for theremin and string quartet. ACME and Eyck's recording of the Fantasias will be released by Butterscotch Records on October 14.

Guerilla Opera is all fun and games in their 10th anniversary season, featuring a new production of Loose, Wet, Perforated with music and libretto by Nicholas P. Vines in September 2016 and the world premiere of Play, the Game or Game, the Play with music and libretto by composer and theater artist Rick Burkhardt in May 2017.

Crowning its year-long tribute to Shakespeare's 400th anniversary, Elements Theatre Company presents King Lear under the direction of Danielle Dwyer, CJ. In the striking outdoor setting of the Atrium of the Church of the Transfiguration, the members of Elements Theatre Company bring all of their passionate dedication and expertise to the Bard's riveting portrayal of a kingdom and families torn apart. Press night is Opening night, August 12, 7:00pm guest lecture Dr. Kathryn Moncrief, followed by outdoor performance 8:00pm.
