Seattle Center Calls for Temporary Art, Culture and Design Projects

Seattle Center seeks up to 20 temporary projects to highlight art, culture and design at The Next Fifty, the 50th anniversary of the 1962 Seattle World's Fair at Seattle Center in 2012. Project budgets should range from $1,000 up to $50,000, inclusive of all expenses, including design, implementation, removal of artwork, travel and taxes.

National and international individuals, curators, institutions as well as youth-led projects (24 years and under) are encouraged to submit proposals of new and original temporary visual, performing, literary and media art projects that could range in duration from one day to six months. The celebration will take place at Seattle Center starting April 21, 2012 through October 21, 2012.

WHEN: Letter of Intent and application materials are due Friday, July 22, 2011 at 11 p.m.(PST).
Final Proposal and support materials are due Friday, October 21, 2011 at 5 p.m. (PST).

WHY: The temporary art, culture and design projects will help enhance the activities and experiences of The Next Fifty, six-months of events and exhibitions celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Seattle World- Fair, illuminating today's challenges and imagining tomorrow's possibities. The Next Fifty focuses on the themes of Arts, Culture and Design; History; Sustainable Futures; Science and Technology; Global Health; Learning; Commerce and Innovation Economy; and Civic Action.
