Blood Ensemble Presents NEVERMORE, 10/11-27

By:

Blood Ensemble has announced Nevermore, a modern psychological thriller inspired by the life and works of Edgar Allan Poe. Nevermore performs Thursday – Saturday from October 11 to October 27 at on Capitol Hill.

Evening performances begin at 8pm, Saturday Matinee performances begin at 2pm. Nevermore is also a participating production in ArtsCrush, offering a limited number of free tickets to performances on October 18 and 25. For more information on ArtsCrush, visit http://artscrush.org.

Written by Emily Harvey and directed by Samantha Cooper, Nevermore is part scripted play and part physical theatre. Following the relationship of Eddie, a starving writer, and Valerie, a mysterious woman, Nevermore explores the inner psychological workings of two people seemingly thrown together by chance. Both are haunted beings with ulterior motives, using their pasts to direct their futures.

"Edgar Allan Poe's life was so tragic that you understand where he got all of the stuff for his stories." says playwright Emily Harvey on the inspiration for this production. Lighting designer Timmy Keener describes Nevermore like a "Live-action haunted house" while actor and costume designer, Dayo Anderson describes the show as "creepy, suspenseful, honest, and gritty."

"My hope is that the audience has intense visceral reactions to this show." says director Samantha Cooper. "I think theatre has a great potential to be scary just like film is scary – to physically mess with the audience, to invade your sense and make your heart beat fast."

Nevermore performs October 11 – October 27 at 226 Summit Ave E on Capitol Hill. Shows are Thursday – Saturday at 8pm, with Saturday Matinee performances at 2pm. Limited number of free tickets are available for the October 18 and 25 8pm performances through ArtsCrush. Tickets are $10 and are available on Brown Paper Tickets. Give yourself time to find parking prior to the show as the space is located at a busy area of Capitol Hill.

*Content warning: Nevermore will be intense and scary featuring drugs, sex, nudity, violence, loud noises, small spaces, and experimental music. Nevermore is not for the faint of heart.*
