Rock out at BPA as SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK LIVE! JR. - a pop culture phenomenon - comes to the musical stage! The Emmy Award-winning 1970's Saturday morning cartoon series that taught history, grammar, math, and more through clever, tuneful songs is not only making a small-screen comeback, it's lighting up the stage at BPA this summer!

SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK LIVE! JR. follows Tom, a nerve-wracked school teacher who is nervous about his first day of teaching. He tries to relax by watching TV when various characters representing facets of his personality emerge from the set and show him how to win his students over with imagination and music, through such songs as "Just A Bill," "Interplanet Janet," and "Conjunction Junction."

The musical is based on the book by Scott Ferguson, Kyle Hall, and George Keating, with music and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, Bob Dorough, Dave Frishberg, Kathy Mandry, George Newall, and Tom Yohe. Interim Director of Education Zandi Carlson, who leads a super-charged cast of 30+ Theatre School students says, "We have a really strong cast for this show! Many of the students are returning to BPA Theatre School and continue to grow and develop skills they've learned in previous years. We also have a few new faces, and we are so excited to add their abilities and gifts to the cast. This show has a wide variety of musical numbers that will showcase this talent and leave the audience with the beat in their feet and in their hearts!"

SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK LIVE, JR. appears this weekend, August 1 - 3 at BPA, with shows Friday at 7:30 p.m. plus Saturday and Sunday at 3:00 p.m. Tickets, $12 for adults, and $7 for seniors, students, youth, military, and teachers, may be purchased online at www.bainbridgeperformingarts.org, by phone at 206.842.8569 or in person at BPA, 200 Madison Avenue North, Bainbridge Island.
