The McFlannels Set for Webster's Theatre in May

By:

The McFlannels are back! You saw them in 2011 and, by popular request, they return to support two small but important charities - David Hayman's Spirit Aid and Ralph Green's School Club Zambia. With the kind permission of the BBC, we relive author Helen W. Pryde's scripts from the Scottish radio show, which commenced in 1939 on a Saturday night - after the football results. With actors like Molly Weir and Rikki Fulton, this first 'soap/sitcom' ran for over twenty years into TV in the early sixties. A Highland family moving to Glasgow, written by Helen W Pryde, commanded a warm place in the hearts of millions as their varied exploits, focussing on family matters, translated into comedy. So come along and join in, and listen to David Hayman as Willie McFlannel, Liz McFarlane Davie as Sarah McFlannel and those who gave of their talent and time from the then RSAMD and actors from the 2011 Strathclyde Theatre Group. All proceeds to Spirit Aid and the School Club Zambia: see them on the web to find out how your money will be used.

Both of these charities deliver critical supports for poor countries, with Spirit Aid also operating at a UK level. They punch above their weight, with all those in Spirit Aid as volunteers delivering a range of projects, and the School Club Zambia educating young people, especially girls, using funds to create a self reliant model in which donations are redeployed to make garments, carpentry, garden produce for the local economy in which its four community schools are situated.

Venue: Webster's Theatre, Kelvinbridge, Glasgow: Date: Sunday 15th May (doors open 7.15pm), Tickets: £10 (plus £1.50 booking fee) from www.webstersglasgow.com or www.cottiers.com or 0141 357 4000 and on the night. Please get your tickets early as the 2011 production was sold out!
