THE STEAMIE Returns to the King's Theatre, Glasgow
Come and celebrate the 30th anniversary of Scotland's most loved play.
Comedy drama The Steamie returns to the King's Theatre this autumn for a special 30th anniversary production with writer Tony Roper taking a seat in the director's chair.
The classic story will run from Monday 23 October until Saturday 4 November starring Libby McArthur as Dolly, Mary McCusker as Mrs Culfeathers, Steven McNicoll as Andy, Carmen Pieraccini as Margrit and Fiona Wood as Doreen. The run will have 16 performances in total.
First performed in May 1987, The Steamie has delighted and entertained audiences all over the world. A television version was made by Scottish Television for Hogmanay 1988. It gained immediate popularity and has been repeated several times over the years. It came second in an online poll for STV's Top 30 Best Loved Shows in 2009.
The story is set in Glasgow wash house on Hogmanay, and the girls need to get their washing done before the bells. Join the gang as they laugh and cry their way through the last day of the year - with a little help from the not so handy Andy.
