Sh!t Theatre's GUINEA PIGS ON TRIAL Makes World Premiere at Edinburgh Fringe, Now thru Aug 23

Sh!t Theatre/Escalator East to Edinburgh present Guinea Pigs on Trial in its World Premiere at Edinburgh Fringe 2014.

Sh!t Theatre have pretty good bodies. So naturally they are trying to sell them.

Using spoken word, song, satire, absurdity and movement, performance art duo Sh!t Theatre follow up their multi-award winning show Job Seekers Anonymous 2013 with Guinea Pigs On Trial.

Pharmaceutical trials such as FLU CAMP are being marketed to jobseekers and students as a way of making money, essentially turning poor people into guinea pigs.

So Sh!t Theatre's Becca and Louise are undertaking drug trial work as r&d for the show and as a fundraising strategy for their Fringe run. They have signed up for trials testing gastro-enteritis, asthma and flu, trials for heroin addiction and botox for bladder problems...

Delving into the murky ethics of big pharmaceutical companies, Sh!t Theatre ask -- is 'guinea pigging' a good cure for an empty bank account? And what happens when profit takes priority in the creation of medicine?

Guinea Pigs on Trial has been developed with support from The Yard Theatre, The Expansionists, The Pleasance Islington, Escalator East to Edinburgh and Arts Council England.

Sh!t Theatre are Louise Mothersole and Rebecca Biscuit. With backgrounds in long-form improv, performance art and music, they have joined forces to explore the political, the personal and the down-right Perverted. Their 2013 Fringe show Job Seekers Anonymous 2013 won Ther Arches Brick Award and the Total Theatre Award for an Emerging Company.

Guinea Pigs on Trial has been selected for Escalator East To Edinburgh. Each year Escalator East to Edinburgh helps artists and arts organisations to raise their profile and perform to new audiences as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
