It’s been 750 million years and Earth (Danielle Steers) is ready to date again. She meets Humanity (Tobias Turley) and the pair hit it off. Then sparks a love story for the ages as the pair tries to navigate their way through eternity together.

The show features music and lyrics by Jack Godfrey and a book and direction by Ellie Coote. With successful musical 42 Balloons under their belt and a cast with such solid credentials, it’s hardly a surprise that Hot Mess has been one of the hot tickets of this year's Fringe.

Rarely is Fringe hype as justified as it is here. Hot Mess is a hugely enjoyable piece of musical theatre. The songs are fantastic and the vocals are off the charts.

Earth and Humanity settle into domestic bliss, curled up under a blanket and talking about whether toxic waste has been cleaned up the way you would taking the bins out. The pair bicker over ownership of the land, does it belong to Earth who created it or Hu, who moulded it?

Tensions build as Hu’s arrogance increases and he vows to start recycling and taking better care of Earth. But is their relationship already doomed?

This quirky and clever piece definitely deserves to be expanded because 65 minutes simply wasn’t enough!
