EDINBURGH 2019: Review: STEPHEN BUCHANAN: BABY DOVE, Pleasance Courtyard EDINBURGH 2019: Review: STEPHEN BUCHANAN: BABY DOVE, Pleasance Courtyard A favourite on the Glasgow comedy scene, Baby Dove is Stephen Buchanan's debut hour at the festival.

At age 27 and still living with his mum, Buchanan confesses to being a bit of a 'man child'. Two years ago, his mum took in a Vietnamese refugee who is nicknamed 'Dove'. The majority of this show centres around living with Dove and how their neighbours have reacted to him.

With an easygoing stage presence, Buchanan gives off an air of a pal telling you a story. There's no pressure to make you laugh (though you will- lots) and his sometimes self-deprecating humour is sharp and witty. I suspect it might also be the only show at the festival that features a Goosebumps themed quiz which was a definite highlight for me.

Baby Dove is a fantastic debut hour for an extremely talented comedian which has an interesting story and big laughs throughout.
