EDINBURGH 2019: Review: AARON SIMMONDS: DISABLED COCONUT, Underbelly

Disabled Coconut is a show based around the time that comedian Aaron Simmonds was trolled online about not being "properly disabled". He immediately tells the audience that he has cerebral palsy- and that is it ok for us to laugh at his jokes about it.

It's a lovely way to spend an hour as Simmonds takes us through how he met his girlfriend and shares hilarious anecdotes about their relationship. Simmonds is an affable performer who throws in an occasional cheeky eyebrow wiggle when the penny drops on certain gags.

One area that he is particularly skilled in is the callback. The narrative is peppered with references which he comes back to when you least expect it.

Disabled Coconut is a series of cringe-worthy tales from a talented comedian who has the audience in the palm of his hand throughout.
