EDINBURGH 2018: Review: BOTTOM, Summerhall

EDINBURGH 2018: Review: BOTTOM, Summerhall

Willy Hudson has locked himself in the bathroom. It's his third date with a man and he hasn't established for sure whether he's a top or a bottom. Willy, is a bottom. Or he has been. He's not sure whether this means he always will be.

Working four jobs in order to pay his rent he begins to wonder whether he's destined to always be a bottom in life.

Bottom delves into queer history and explains the differences between dating now and in the 70's. Is it better or worse to be able to lay out all of your sexual preferences from the offset?

Soundtracked by Beyonce, this is an upbeat and funny piece of theatre. It challenges stereotypes about gay men and the things that people that meet them think is appropriate to ask. Performed with a lot of energy and heart, Bottom is definitely worth your while.
