BWW speaks to Loyiso Gola about his 2016 Edinburgh Fringe show Dude, Where's My Lion?

Is this your first visit to the Edinburgh Fringe?

It's my third time ... I have come as a spectator another time as part of an ensemble and a solo show. It's my second solo show this year.

How would you describe your show Dude, Where's My Lion?

A contemporary African tale which will shatter every stereo-type known of present-day Africa.

Who would you recommend your show to?

It's for anyone who is looking to hear a different story and opinion about issues.

Tell us a bit about your career.

I started doing comedy at 17 years old. I have hosted a South African satirical news TV series (Late Night News with Loyiso Gola) which lasted 12 seasons and got two International Emmy nominations. I have done 3 comedy specials.

Are there any other shows you're hoping to catch at the festival?

Set List is one I have always enjoyed. I enjoy watching new unknown acts. Looking forward to Reginald D Hunter.

Timings and ticket information for Dude, Where's My Lion is available on the edfringe website.
