EDINBURGH 2013 - Reviewer Natalie O'Donoghue's Awards!
Best Play
Making News: With a stellar cast and a solid script, this is an excellent and highly enjoyable piece of theatre.
Best Comedy
When I Grow Up: Although this is more like comedy storytelling rather than stand-up, it is absolutely the funniest show I saw at the festival this year. More than that though, it has a massive heart behind it and I defy anyone to leave this show without the biggest smile on their face.
Best Musical
Sincerely, Mr Toad - A new musical based on the life of Kenneth Grahame, writer of Wind in the Willows. Brilliant cast and fantastic soundtrack, I would be more than keen to see this do a full UK tour.
Best Children's Show
Sam Rose In The Shadows: A non-patronising, clever and beautiful children's play, which will appeal to adults just as much as it would to kids.
One To Watch
Roll It In Sequins: As mentioned in the review, I was surprised to learn this duo have been working together for such a short time. The fact they've managed to produce a show of this quality so quickly gives me high hopes for whatever they have planned next.
