It's Christmas Eve and Constables Blunt and Gobbel have some bad news to deliver. A young woman has died in a car accident and its their duty to inform her parents before clocking off for Christmas. On their way to their house, the pair encounter a woman from PAPS- Parents Against Paedo Scum a group who are keen to dish out some vigilante justice on paedophiles and anyone who they suspect has been helping them.

The Lying Kind is a complete and utter farce- in the best possible way. It is absolutely ridiculous from start to finish and very clever with it. Subtle points that are made earlier in the show come back around when you least expect it, with fantastic comedic effect.

It is the cast that makes the production quite so riotous. Martin McCormick is fantastic as Officer Blunt, the more sensible of the two constables. Michael Dylan as the slightly less sensible Gobbel is excellent and has the ability to have the audience in fits of laughter with just his facial expressions. Special mention also goes to Gayle Telfer Stevens as Gronya- striking a delicate balance between comical and terrifying!

It is difficult to review The Lying Kind without giving away any of the spectacular plot twists. Although it becomes clear that there has been a massive misunderstanding very early on, its never quite what you think and there are constant surprises.

The Lying Kind runs at the Tron Theatre until Saturday 22nd July.
