A GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE Opens Florida Studio Theatre's 2018 Winter Mainstage Season

Florida Studio Theatre (FST) opens its 45th Winter Mainstage Season with the four-time Tony Award-winning musical, A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder. Called "A true tour de force" by The New York Times, A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder follows Monty Navarro, a lowly born Englishman who suddenly discovers he is eighth in succession to become the Earl of Highurst, and is determined to gain the title…by any means necessary. This critically-acclaimed, knock 'em dead musical, with Book and Lyrics by Robert L. Freedman and Music and Lyrics by Steve Lutvak, will run starting November 7 in FST's Gompertz Theatre.

The FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training will kick off its 2018-19 season with Tom Stoppard's timeless masterpiece, Arcadia. Second-year Conservatory students bring to life the story of a young genius and her private tutor caught in an epic game of lost-and-found between two centuries. Part mystery and part love story, Arcadia pits elegance and poetry against the cold certainties of science and physics and brings to question the determinability of the universe. Arcadia will be performed in the Cook Theatre, October 31 - November 18 with a preview night October 30. Tickets are $30.

Florida Studio Theatre (FST) announces its Fall Improv Season, which includes a brand new performance every Saturday, plus three special holiday-themed shows that will bring laughs, scares, and holiday cheer to Sarasota. The season kicks off on October 6 with FST Improv's classic comedy competition, Out of Bounds, where two teams of improvisers go head-to-head to compete for the most audience laughs. Out of Bounds runs every Saturday in FST's Bowne's Lab Theatre through December 22.

Florida Studio Theatre (FST) presents a new play workshop of Lia Romeo's The Forest, a touching new dark comedy about a mother and daughter who experience extreme change in their lives. Romeo will collaborate with FST's Artistic staff on furthering the work from October 22-26, culminating in a staged reading of the play on Friday, October 26 at 3 PM in FST's Bowne's Lab Theatre. This event is presented as part of FST's expanding New Play Development program, and is free and open to the public, however, reservations are required. Florida Studio Theatre (FST) will organize and produce a large-scale community outreach initiative in honor of the 100th anniversary of women's suffrage (to be recognized August 26, 2020). The project's first year will be dedicated to the cultivation of creative partnerships, development of new works, and planning of community events. In the second year, Florida Studio Theatre, along with its community partners, will roll out a year-round event series, including artistic productions, author readings, workshops, oral history projects, forum discussions, and an in-school engagement program - all in celebration of the suffrage centennial.
