Lisa Rochelle Returns to the Stage This Month After 20-Year Hiatus

By:

Broadway veteran and acclaimed voice teacher Lisa Rochelle returns to the stage in a celebration of the music of Stephen Sondheim at The Schoolhouse Theater in Croton Falls, NY on September 20th at 4:00 p.m. Joining her are Broadway tenor Frank Mastrone and musical director Joshua Stephen Kartes. Saturday in September with Sondheim marks Ms. Rochelle's return to performing after spending the last 20 years devoted exclusively to her students.

The afternoon will include Sondheim favorites "There Won't Be Trumpets", "No One Is Alone" and "Losing My Mind", among others. "I have always been passionate about Sondheim's writing. His songs capture the heart and penetrate the soul," said Ms. Rochelle, of her come-back repertoire. "There is nothing more thrilling as actor or singer to immerse yourself in material like this and to do it on your own terms."

Lisa Rochelle began her professional career at age 14, playing Kaye Ballard's daughter in Molly on Broadway. She is remembered for her work playing Fanny Brice in Funny Girl and Amalia in She Loves Me, as well as featured roles Off-Broadway in the long-running That's Life! and numerous daytime television roles. Other credits include the 1st National Broadway tour of Les Miserables and dozens of television and voiceover commercials.

Ms. Rochelle's roster of vocal students can be found performing on Broadway, Off-Broadway, in National Tours and regional theatres, as well as in feature films and on television. Her decades of pedagogical and clinical experience have cultivated a specialty in working with performers with unresolved vocal difficulties. She has recently codified Throat Tension Relief or TTM ™, a series of laryngeal self-massaging exercises which have helped hundreds of singers and actors over the decades.
