BWW REVIEW: AS YOU LIKE IT at the GAMM THEATRE is a Blue Thumbs Up
by Larry O'Brien - April 24, 2018
The Gamm Theatre closes its fifteen year run in Pawtucket with Shakespeare's AS YOU LIKE IT, so it was with mixed emotions that I turned right onto Exchange St. last Saturday, for the last time to be squeezed into the lyric, little bandbox of a theater. Fear not, theatergoers, they're not going away, just going to Warwick, where I trust they will continue to produce some of the most entertaining, interesting and thought provoking theater you can find. They chose to go out with Shakespeare and once again have found a new way to look at a play and led us to a new way to look at reality. It's what they do there.

BWW Review: Trinity Rep's NATIVE GARDENS Unpacks the Complicated World of Neighbors and Fences
by Andria Tieman - April 10, 2018
What do you do when you finally buy your dream house and then immediately run into issues with the next-door neighbors? On the surface, that's essentially what Native Gardens is about, but as the plot starts to develop, issues of age, race, gender, immigration, privilege, environmentalism, class, heritage and more start to percolate to the surface in what began as a feud about a fence. Despite all those heavy topics, it's a comedy, and a genuinely hilarious one at that. Smart comedies like this serve to shine a light on genuine issues without becoming didactic and preachy, and all the characters get a chance to have their say, while also getting contradicted by someone else.
