Theatre By The Sea Announces 2018 Children's Festival

In celebration of 85 Years of Theatre By The Sea (TBTS), owner and producer Bill Hanney is proud to announce the 2018 summer schedule for Theatre By The Sea's 2018 Children's Festival. Performances will be held on select Fridays in July and August.

July 6 - Sleeping Beauty presented by Kaleidoscope Children's Theatre

Extra 2:00 pm performance added! A king who snores, a dragon who roars, a prince whom love misses until a princess he kisses, when all is said and done a whole lot of family fun! It's more than just magical ... It's a Kaleidoscope musical! Don't miss this wonderful show! A celebration with music, fun and heroic deeds! Sleeping Beauty will be presented at 10:00 am, 12:00 noon & 2:00 pm.

July 13 - The Airborne Comedians

Astonishing audiences as they juggle a cornucopia of object including birdbaths, lawn-chairs, electric guitars and baseball bats, the Airborne Comedians are renowned for their hilarious juggling routines performed as they balance atop unicycles as much as seven feet high. The Airborne Comedians (made up of Dan Foley and Joel Harris) have traveled around the world, delighting onlookers with their high-energy and unorthodox comic patter. The Airborne Comedians will be presented at 10:00 am & 12:00 noon.

July 20 - Bubbleology presented by Keith Michael Johnson

Returning for his 10th year! As seen on Discovery Channel's "Time Warp" and National Geographic TV, Bubbleology enchants audiences of all ages with the art and science of soap bubbles. With enthusiasm, humor and style, Keith builds beautiful sculptural creations including a bubbly Eiffel Tower, a dancing snowman and a spinning space ship, which races toward the ceiling. One minute he's encasing a dinosaur in a bubble and the next he's encapsulating an audience volunteer. Bubbleology will be presented at 10:00 am & 12:00 noon.

August 3 - Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka JR. presented by Camp Theatre By The Sea students

The delicious adventures experienced by Charlie Bucket on his visit to Willy Wonka's mysterious chocolate factory light up the stage in this captivating adaptation of Roald Dahl's fantastical tale. Featuring the enchanting songs from the 1971 film starring Gene Wilder, in addition to a host of fun new songs, Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka JR. is a scrumdidilyumptious musical guaranteed to delight everyone's sweet tooth! Willy Wonka JR. will be presented at 10:00 am & 12:00 noon.

August 10 - Pinocchio presented by Kaleidoscope Children's Theatre

An amazing series of adventures awaits Pinocchio in his quest to become a real boy. Will he take the Blue Fairy's advice and listen to the smart little cricket? Or will he end up as a donkey on the Isle of Joy? Come and find out! It's a show the whole family will enjoy, no strings attached. Pinocchio will be presented at 10:00 am & 12:00 noon.

Before or after the show families can enjoy cold drinks, pizza and cookies, which will be available for purchase at the gazebo. The adjacent restaurant, Bistro by the Sea, will also be open for lunch beginning at 11:00 am. (Reservations are strongly recommended and can be made by calling (401) 789-3030.

As part of their sponsorship, The Vanilla Bean invites those attending Children's Festival performances to bring their post-show Children's Festival tickets to the popular ice cream spot, located at 757 Matunuck Beach Road, Wakefield, to get one free kid's cone with the purchase of an adult cone. Children's Festival performances will be held at Theatre By The Sea located at 364 Cards Pond Road, Wakefield, RI.
